What is Scrip?
Scrip is an easy way to save money on your tuition and help our school at the same time! Scrip is a painless way our school can generate additional revenue without conducting a traditional fundraiser. Scrip is simply gift certificates from national and local retailers. They are the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our Scrip program including Cub Foods, Whole Foods, Target, Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club, Holiday Station Stores, Amazon.com, JC Penney, Kohl's, Best Buy, Papa John’s Pizza, Subway, Chipotle, AMC Theatres and many, many others.
The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of non-profit organizations like our school to purchase large amounts of Scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the Scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Our school buys the Scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount - from two to fifteen percent or more – is our revenue. The revenue is split between your family’s tuition account and the general school fund. And with Scrip, everybody wins:
- You accrue credit to reduce your family’s tuition
- The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business
- You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling
- Our school gets a regular source of revenue
The beauty of Scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school while spending money you would spend anyway. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with Scrip at the stores that participate in the Scrip program! And Scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline, gifts, and even dining out.
