We welcomed our grandparents to Ave Maria Academy today to celebrate Grandparent's Day. This is an annual tradition in which we honor and offer our gratitude to them. The students sang a lovely arrangement of songs and we heard from 8th Grader, Nicholas Gerlach, Grandparent, Kathy Hayes, and Annual Fund Chairs, Brady & Kim Day. With over 200 grandparents in attendance, it was definitely a large family gathering!
The upper school students (grades 6th-8th) got the opportunity to go on a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI today. This trip is very fitting for our students to make this journey and encounter the richness of the Faith as they experience the pilgrimage and opportunity to offer special prayers to Our Lady.
The grounds of the Shrine are extensive and include a votive candle chapel, a memorial to the unborn, an outdoor stations of the cross and a rosary walk. The students took part in Holy Mass, toured the shrine and its grounds, stations of the cross with the friars, a holy hour including rosary, evening prayer with the friars, and Benediction.
The Ave Maria Science Fair had many talented young scientists creating projects and competing against their classmates. Congratulations to our 1st place winners – David Bakke: 8th Grade, Ruby Ryan: 7th Grade & Brooke Huegel: 6th Grade.
Thank you to all the moms that took time from their busy schedule and family to come out and help make our Fall Fondue Moms Night a success! We had good food and even better company, as we welcomed new AMA moms and caught up with others. Many laughs were shared.
The celebration of the Solemnity of All Saints’ Day was a joyous one. Saints were all over the place as all the students and teachers dressed up as saints they look up to and admire. The Parade of All Saints was led by the upper school students, into the gymnasium, singing the Litany of Saints. Then, in front of peers, family, and friends, the students went on stage to introduce themselves and the saints in which they were dressed. The festivities ended with a pizza lunch and recess with their buddies. What a day!
Thank you to all of the families that came out tonight to celebrate in the ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing in honor of our new playground. And a special thank you to the volunteers and donors that helped make this dream come true for our students.
Summer camp is off to a great start! What a fun experience for all of the kids. They created some science experiments, The Bakken Museum made a visit to teach them about coding and circuitry, KidzArt helped the students create a masterpiece, and then they finished off the week with a field trip to the Science Museum.
It was a beautiful day for golf! With 120 golfers, and a full day of fun in the sun, the Ave Maria Golf Classic was a huge success. Hope you can join us next year at Medina Golf & Country Club on June 1, 2020.
Congratulations to the winning team with a score of 53. Doug Sabers, Dan Sabers, Dave Mydland & Dave Hastings
This is the fourth year for our band program and twenty-three, 4th-8th grade band students held an impressive performance for their family and friends. The students are instructed by Mr. Pete Enblom with McPhail Center for Music. They played a number of songs, and impressed the school with their talents in such a short time of learning their instruments. We hope that the upcoming 4th graders will be interested in this growing program at Ave Maria.
On Friday, May 10th the students, staff, family and friends of Ave Maria Academy honored Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth with a beautiful votive Mass, procession, and crowning. God blessed us with the presence of His Eminence Raymond Cardinal Burke as well as sunshine and warmth. Praise God for His Goodness and Beauty!
Fifty-two amazing 5th-8th grade students made up this year’s drama club. Last week, they performed Singin' In The Rain for two separate shows. The students and grandparents loved seeing the show on Friday, and it was a packed gym of family and friends on Saturday night! Not only did the cast learn their lines, songs, and dances, but they also created and painted the set and ran their own backstage! Congratulations to everyone in drama club for a great performance!
For the 6th grade apostolic field trip, they went to Trillium Woods Nursing Home and Care Facility, where some students shared their God given talents such as playing a musical instrument, singing, juggling, tap dancing and more! Students played games with some of the residents, as well as read to them.
The winter weather on Saturday, March 9th did not stop over 250 guests from enjoying the 16th annual gala at the Minneapolis Marriot Northwest in Brooklyn Park, MN. The evening successfully fulfilled what Ave Maria Academy believes: faith, reason, virtue and community. We are so grateful for the presence of so many of our families as well as the generosity you put forth in making this event possible.
The B team and the Junior Varsity girls basketball teams both ended the season winning the championship game in the NSPSL tournament. The B Team had one loss and the Junior Varsity team finished the season undefeated. Go Crusaders!
The family dance was a huge success. DJ Bill was behind the turntable and the students danced the entire afternoon to a few of their favorites like the Macarena, The Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey. They also collected Jam and Jelly for Catholic Schools Week to bring to the local food bank.
The 5th grade students presented dioramas of various ecosystems including taigas, tundras, deciduous forests and coral reefs in Science. Come visit the 5th grade room to take a closer look! These students are really creative!
